dark
sinister
filled
with violence
despair
tears
on the streets
some days are hopeless
and millions
upon millions are the people
equally so
some days – if you're unlucky,
most days –
are so deep
so full
in their misery
it's enough to make you deny
everything
man saws off huskey's head
man slaughters 5 year old (with knife)
women shakes child
and oprah
asks
why
why
she
asks, again,
and again
angry
why are we like this
why are we compelled
to push
and push and push
into the corners of evil
why can't we just stick to science?
and sport?
Good eating
and good thoughts?
why, she asks
as if she doesn't muffle screams too...
just like you
as if she doesn't keep the mirror occupied
late into the night
like me
truth is
some days are just like this
we are people
and people must
